Waialee – Day 3

I have a thing for architecture and old things. After leaving Lāʻie Point State Wayside I continued north and then west along the Kamehameha Highway. A day early I saw two abandoned buildings on either side of the highway and made a point to return the next day to explore them.

The building on the north side was fully accessible but the buildings on the south side of the highway were fenced off. I didn’t want to be that tourist getting fined for hopping the fence for a few pictures so I stuck to the incredible graffiti art filled abandoned building on the north side.

A quick Google search will provide some interesting facts about the history of the building I explored and the one that I couldn’t across the road. The beauty of this building was seeing nature take back what was once its land. Some of the graffiti is very well done. The old couch, the tire, the phone book and the other abandoned items add to ambiance of this place. Definitely worth stopping to see while it’s still around.
